Artist Martin Tomlinson
All of our cars come with an original painting by Martin Tomlinson
Commission the artist to capture a moment in the car’s history
- Join collectors like John Surtess and Mark Blundell and own one of Tomlinson’s original works
Martin Tomlinson, the well-known motorsport artist whose work is highly sought after by collectors, has been commissioned by The Old Racing Car Company to paint a portrait of each of our cars, to give to the future owner with our compliments.
Martin’s work, which combines photo-realism and bold graphics, can be found in the collections of John Surtees, Zak Brown, Mark Blundell and the late Carroll Shelby, and he has exhibited paintings at Silverstone, Le Mans, Goodwood Festival of Speed and in London’s West End.
Martin has been passionate about motorsport since he first went to a meeting at Crystal Palace in the early 1950’s and he has raced at Silverstone, Brands Hatch, and Snetterton among others.
Martin works in gouache and has developed a distinctive graphic style, for the ORC portraits, which features the car in the foreground against a distinctive emblematic background, representing an historic event in which the car has participated, like Goodwood or the Mille Milgia, or simply the marque badge. To this end the new owner of one of our cars can ‘commission’ Martin to personalise the painting and make it unique to them and to the car.
Alternatively owners can commission Martin to paint portraits of their existing cars, either in this distinctive style, or in a more traditional style, as in the portrait of Mike Hawthorn, seen below.
