1964 Jaguar XKE Roadster LHD
This very original early LHD E-Type has only had two long termowners and covered just 44,000 miles from new. It is a numbers matching car which comes with its rare and original Factory-fitted hard top, original wire wheels and knock-offs and tool kit and jack. It has only been repainted twice in its life, once Red and then, in 2012, returned to its original Opalescent Silver. It was also re-trimmed at the same time, but in every other respect the car it is a very original, unmolested car.
Originally delivered to Jaguar Cars, New York, on 4thFebruary, 1964 the first owner was Major M.D Hilbert of Fayetteville, NC who purchased the car on his retirement and kept it for the next 35 years. The next owner used the car sparingly and as a result it has covered only 44,000 miles from new.
In 2012 it was subject of a very sympathetic restoration of paint and trim, and the engine was rebuilt. All mechanicals were overhauled and in order to meet the demands of modern motoring, it now features a stainless steel exhaust and Pertronix electronic ignition and new, original style wheels, knocks-off and tyres. However all the original components have been retained with the car, including the original Lucas headlights.
The car is Swiss registered and was the subject of a further 20,000 Euro
expenditure to comply with strict rules regarding Swiss registration.
As a result the car is in stunning original condition, while also maintained to a very high standard and ready to be enjoyed, just as it would when it first left the factory.
This stunning car is currently located with its owner in Switzerland.
