Ferrari TRC 250 Rebody by DK Engineering

Inspired by the legendary 1957-61 Series Ferrari TRC 500 is a genuine 250 GTE rebody built in 1984 by one of the UK’s most respected Ferrari specialists DK Engineering.  It features an all alloy body modelled on the original  0666  body by Touring, on a genuine 1961 Series I Ferrari 250chassis, with Columbo V-12 outside plug 3-litre engine and an ultra rare and original 1962 GTO/TR alloy sump with correct gearbox mated to a DK 250 TR non-transverse rear spring tubular series frame. The original car is Ferrari registered and all components bear correct factory casting numbers.

Originally commissioned by US collector in LHD form, it is one of approximately 16 early TRs meticulously crafted by DK Engineering in the mid 80s on the chassis of a genuine series one 250 Ferrari GTE V-12. In the late 90s this same car became the subject of a 6-year  complete refurbishment by respected US Ferrari specialist John Hadjuk of Motorkraft Ltd, Indiana, during which time the 1962 128-F code engine was fully rebuilt and upgraded to GTO/competition specifications using forged pistons and rods; competition valves and cams and converted to a 1959 spec 250 TR dry sump oiling system, using an extremely rare and valuable alloy sump from an original 250 TR/250 GTO factory numbered unit. At the same time the 6 Weber  carburettors were changed from 4-bolt sandcasts to the more desirable 3-bolt 365 GTB Daytona 40 DCNs and tweaked to GTO specification.

Tracing the development of the original Ferrari TRC 500's from  4-cylinder/drum brake cars in 1957 to the V-12/disc brake cars of 61 and all the various body configurations during this time, this draws heavily on one the finest designs from that halcyon period in Ferrari history. A sensational road or track car, and winner of a significant 2007 US Concours, at which Ferrari was the featured marque, it is now for sale and can be seen by appointment, with its owner in San Francisco, California.
