1948 HRG 1500 Square Rigger

Considered by many to be one of the best all round sportscars of the day, HRG obtained many pre war competition successes including first in class in the 1939 Le Mans 24 Hour Race, achieving 14th place overall. Postwar the HRG was over a decade old and pitted against a new generation of competition cars and yet it swept the board in almost every field of the sport including the Alpine Rally, Production Car races at Silverstone the Spa, Le Mans and the RAC Rally.
Similarly chassis number W165 has an interesting racing history which began at the 1950 Silverstone GP Production Car Race, driven by Tom Christie. In the same ownership for over 30 years, and the subject of a ground-up restoration in 1993, it has been little used since and is therefore in excellent condition. Finished in Napier green with green leather interior and black canvas hood and tonneau, it still features subtle modifications from its racing past, including twin spares, centre spot, hydraulic brakes(1950 HRG modification) Scintilla mag and fire extinguisher. A rare model with good history, long term ownership and in excellent condition.
