1934 Lagonda 4.5 Litre Tourer
One of the most desirable of all sporting Lagondas this M45 Special Bodied Tourer is an elegant and fast four seater on a shortened 10ft chassis, combining both great performance and stylish lines.
This car has been the subject of a comprehensive 15 year rebuild and restoration, completed in 2000. The original chassis (No. Z11226) from a M45 Saloon, has been professionally shortened and has a new rear end, correctly scaled down to create a short wheel base tourer. The all new ash framed, fabric covered body was inspired by author Geoffrey Seaton's own car, featured on page 119 of his book Lagonda - An Illustrated History 1900-1950, and the car has a newly
re-trimmed interior, plus a new double-duck hood, tonneau and side screens.
The engine (No. 12670/2976 on the V5) was fully rebuilt during the restoration has has done only 1,500 miles since. It is mated to an original 4 speed Lagonda gearbox (T8 322/5485) running on Castrol R and has a high ratio 3.3 rear axle for fast touring. All components, instruments etc are correct, period Lagonda. All the work was done by the owner, who is also a professional restorer.
There is a photographic record of the rebuild. The car is excellent useable condition, has VSCC buff form and new MOT.
