1932 Ford Model 18 V8 Cabriolet

Rare Ford 18 V8 from first and only year of manufacture, with an excellent provenance including two siginificant motorsport owners.

The first owner was the Brooklands biking legend Eric Fernihough, who in 1935 took the Brooklands' lap record to 123.58mph on his Brough Superior, and who went on to hold the Motorcyle Landspeed Record, before a fatal accident in Hungary when attempting to break his own record. The second owner was none other than Aston works driver Eric Thompson, who made his name in post-war international motoring racing, but actually trialed this car before the war. In December 2006 he wrote to The Automobile magazine, about his fond memories of the car.

Originally registered APJ 35 the car was meticulously restored by the late Sid Shephard, Ford Model A luminary and respected restorer. It subsequently went on to win 'Best in Class' and in the following year 'Over All Best in Show' at All Ford Rally. It now bears an original Ford works registration number GY 371.

A rare car, but particularly so in RHD, and featuring desirable mods like Mallory electronic ignition and Mitchell overdrive, this very desirable and versatile four seater (with dickey) or sporty two seater cabriolet, is in excellent condition.
