goes as far as to suggest that his success with this very car is what spurred the MG Factory to enter competition with their next generation of sports cars, namely the MG A and ZA/ZB Magnettes, including a shot at Le Mans, which of course Dick Jacobs orchestrated.
When regulations were relaxed in 1954 the car was fitted with a brand new MG TD2 engine, with higher compression, twin carburetors. and correctly numbered as a '54 unit, recorded in a overstamp on its original chassis plate as a Factory Replacement Engine.
In remarkable time-warp condition UHK111 has a wonderful patina and still bears the marks of a racing pedigree, with the imprint of its competition number '32' still visible on the off-side wing. Last refurbished, mechanically and cosmetically, over 30 years ago, the car has a remarkably original and unmolested feel.
With the car comes an extensive history folder including original race programmes for the years ‘52, '53, and ’54; two Dick Jacobs letters; a large press photograph of the car in action; an original advertising leaflet; a paddock pass; two original posters and the book An MG Experience. There are also old MOT’s numerous bills and tools.
With its continuous history UHK 111 would be elligible for full FIA Papers,
and has to be a serious contender for future inclusion in the Goodwood Revival.
